Paintings > Bio Cave Formations

These started out as paintings about the same subject matter as the drawings. The major departure point here was that I wanted to use the paint as a formal agent in creating the forces of regeneration and decay that happen inside the body. Using texture, gesture, color, and an abstracted sense of space, I made these paintings with the hope of portraying this feeling for the viewer. I have a certain anxiety when I think of all the processes happening within my own human frame, and it makes me think of it as rather vulnerable, penetrable on many levels, and above all, clumsy.
