This is a collection of photography from the past two years. Some of it was from class assignments, and some is from independent projects. Currently, as you might infer from the pictures of the wedding dress, I am starting to work with garments from people in my family who I am either estranged from or who have passed away. I plan to reference 18th century ghost photography in this series, reflecting on the use of photographic technology as a way of not only capturing sentiment, but also of employing it to deal with loss. I also was interested in the idea of tricking people into believing in something about what they are seeing, a tactic of ghost photographers, but also family portrait photographers. The family portrait is stripped down to smiles and happiness, there is no pain or loss there. This has also ventured into video, where I take on a character, dressed in one of these garments, wandering around like a lost Orpheus in a cave. For this video, please go to:
